Public Consultation Event

Following their submission of a Proposal of Application Notice to Perth and Kinross Council in October, the Trust held a public consultation meeting regarding their plans for up to 50 additional homes on their existing Gannochy Estate in the Gannochy Community Hall on 22 November 2016.

The meeting, which invited local residents and groups to view plans and discuss these with the architects and members of the Trust's senior management, was well attended by over 70 people. The plans on display highlighted some of the Trust's ambitions for the extended estate which, as well as providing up to 50 exemplar homes and gardens of various design, include neighbourhood green space and shared community space.

One of the attendees was existing estate tenant, Gordon Ford, whose grandfather was the first resident of 3 Gannochy Green when A K Bell opened the estate in the 1930s. He commented, "I grew up in my grandfathers home on the Gannochy Estate and have raised my own family here.  I think the new plans are excellent and much needed.  I think existing tenants may look to move to smaller homes opening up opportunities for young families to join the neighbourhood.  An exciting time."

The Trust's chairman, Dr James Kynaston commented, " We were very encouraged to see so many people engage in this important stage in the planning process. The feedback gathered during this consultation is essential to the decisions we will make moving forward and I am confident we will fulfil the ambitions of the Trust and both our existing and new tenants."
